Last night, Saturday 11th August, at around 10pm, Derbyshire Fire Service was called out to a flat on Queen Street, off Tamworth Road in Long Eaton.
The call had been made after reports of an explosion in the flat, followed by a fire that had trapped the occupant, said to be a 57 year old male.
Sadly the man died at the scene and an investigation as to the cause of the explosion and fire is underway.
