What has happened to the Galaxy Cinema in Long Eaton?
By tinx77 | Saturday, June 02, 2012, 19:24
For the second time this year the cinema is closed again, this time the doors are boarded up with a small hand written notice, saying "closed for emergency repairs". Never seen any workmen there or anything, and its not long since they renovated the screens and foyer. Does anyone know what is going on or when it will re-open please. thanks

So who owns it now, and what's going to happen to the building?

ReportHI
just thought id clear things up regarding the Cinema in long Eaton, I was the last manager in this building during April of 2012 Unfortunatly during the heavy rains at that time, the building suffered yet another serious problem Water pouring in from the roof, this poor old building certainly has had a chequred history and its now tired and worn out, Graham the owner at that time gave it his best shot for 5 years, but alas the old building was just costing far to much to reatin as an ongoing cinema, every month there was a crisis of one kind or another, and money was just not flowing in as fast as the water did, so it was decided to close in April, it was a sad time as all the staff wanted to keep this only Long Eaton Cinema a vibrant and profitable business but with audience figures falling and the advent of Digital Projection required by the major film companies the end came suddenly.
Hope this clears up matters any question please feel free to ask

ReportThe same company also owns a cinema in Cannock, which is still operational, but it does seem strange that the 'information line' at the Galaxy in Long Eaton has no information on it at all.
