For the second time this year the cinema is closed again, this time the doors are boarded up with a small hand written notice, saying "closed for emergency repairs". Never seen any workmen there or anything, and its not long since they renovated the screens and foyer. Does anyone know what is going on or when it will re-open please. thanks

Just looked at the Wallace and Jones website again. It seems the old Galaxy building has been sold subject to contract. There are no details as to how much for, or who to.

Looking at Wallace & Jones website (the auctioneer) all the properties sold at this auction on 24th July, have been sold, but the Galaxy cinema appears not to have been sold yet. The guide price was £100,000 + .

Has this building been sold now? It was up for auction on the 24th of July! I would love to see this building returned to its original condition, art deco cinemas are unique beautiful buildings and should be heritage sites, from the pictures I have seen of this one in its heyday it is no different.

If anyone knows who has purchased this and what they plan to do with it please post. I am a massive cinema enthusiast with over 15 years experience in the business and would love to see it restored to it former glory!
